A major goal of the Center is translation of the technology developed by the Center to a routine imager that can be used in other labs, and thereby enhance application of the technology to diagnosis and eventual treatment of cancer and other diseases. Effort toward this goal includes partnering with Bruker BioSpin to commercialize a small animal (pre-clinical) imager.
The key features of this project are to adapt to a commercial instrument the technology developed by the Center, including magnet, resonator, bridge, and imaging methodology. A general concept that guides the design is that it should be small enough to be easily installed in many labs. A key step in this goal will be creating a table top version of the existing imager. Other key steps include optimizing the bridge for pulse measurements, combining the best features from several resonator designs, and streamlining software into one user-friendly package.
